Ubisoft confirmed FarCry 4 will be release on Nov 18 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
During Ubisoft’s financial report for the fiscal year, the company confirmed FarCry 4 is in development across five Ubisoft studios: Montreal is the lead, Red Storm, Toronto, Shanghai and Kiev assisting. The game is expected to hit PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC on November 18, 2014.
The game is set in the Himalayas, specifically in a fictional region known as Kyrat, which is described as a “breathtaking, perilous and wild region of the Himalayas struggling under the regime of a despotic self-appointed king.”
Though the new setting will not feature as many tigers are Rook Island, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t expect a vast array of weapon and vehicles, or even ridable elephants.
Following the success of FarCry 3, we wanted to take the franchise to the next level and create a game that will surprise players and exceed fans’ expectations,” executive producer Dan Hay said in a statement. “Given the unique setting, we feel FarCry 4 will stand as a top first-person shooter and we’re eager to reveal more about the game in the coming months.”
At the time of writing, pre-orders for FarCry 4 are live, and with them you’ll gain access to a limited edition, containing “Hurk’s Redemption” DLC, a pack of 3 extra single player missions revolving around the FarCry 3 character. You’ll also receive Hurk’s weapon, a harpoon called the Impaler.
As expected, more info will be shared during Ubisoft’s E3 2014 briefing next month, which will be held Monday June 9 at 3 p.m. PDT.
