I never got into Philips' high-end Fidelio line-up. I knew it existed, and I heard good things about it, but never had a chance to test it for myself. Well, with a little help from the Fidelio L2, I finally got my introduction to the series. If my initial experience is of any indication, it looks like I'm in for a great ride.
The Fidelio line-up is something I'd like to see more of. It is proof that major manufacturers can turn around and provide the more “dedicated” audience something to enjoy and play around with. Whether we’re talking about speaker systems, docking stations, headphones, or wireless-hi fi audio, the series has expanded considerably in the past few years.
Now, these devices should supposedly prize audio-fidelity, it’s in the bloody name, after all! However, more than that, they also share a certain aesthetic. You will always be able to tell them apart from other brands that employ similar materials, finishes, and even design choices.
My first foray into Philips’ line-up is marked by the L2, a follow-up to the L1. Whilst these are high-end headphones, they’re not massive, as they are designed to be used on the go.
