First Look

PB287Q is bundled with a 1-meter power-cord, a 1-meter DisplayPort cable, a 1-meter HDMI cable, a 3.5mm stereo audio cable, a plastic clamp for wire management, the mandatory quick-start guide, as well as a VIP warrany card.

Out of the box, the screen is partially assembled, and all you have to do is hook up the base, and plug-it in to a power-source. There's also a VESA wall-mount (100x100mm) for those looking to mount the display on an aftermarket stand or an appropriate wall. The power supply seems to be huddled inside, which means there are no additional power-bricks.

The oversized flat base is exceptionally stable, both on wood, and glass surfaces, and the whole stand has some excellent adjustment options available. There is a +20° to -5° tilt and also swivel, pivot and height adjustments.

Connections

The monitor comes with 2xHDMI 1.4/MHL, and a single 1.2 DisplayPort input, a 3.5mm stereo line-in and a 3.5MM stereo audio output (coming from the HDMI or DisplayPort source). Since the screen supports MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link), you can also plug in a tablet to stream content through the HDMI input.

The Display

The 28-inch (71.12cm) inch display uses a fairly narrow bezel with a matte finish that doesn't really get smudged. The OSD (On-Screen Display) is accessible by pressing one of the six buttons available in the back of the monitor, with each having small indicators in the lower-right corner.

ASUS PG 287 - Control Panel

The PB287Q uses a TN panel, with a maximum refresh rate of 60Hz, a contrast ratio of 100.000.000:1, a rated brightness of 300Nits, and 1073.7 million colors (10bit). Of course, we'll have to take a few tests and see if we get similar figures.
