A new Saints Row title might be in the works, with Deep Silver taking to Twitter to divinate the prospects of a new entry in the franchise.
The upcoming project is set to be revealed for the first time, this weekend, during a Pax Prime panel in Seattle. The European Publisher, Deep Silver, has previously confirmed a panel at the expo, where the voice actor Natalie Lander (Saints Row, God of War III) will host a “quiz show hour,” shortly followed by a new reveal, exclusive gameplay and concept-art from an upcoming project from Volition. Since Deep Silver didn’t acquire the Red Faction franchise following THQ’s demise, said project is most likely going to be a new Saints Row title.
This is also confirmed by a Deep Silver UK Tweet, where an Ouija board is showcased, with the Saints Raw Logo, and the number 666 carved on it.
It wouldn’t be surprising for the game to try out an urban fantasy setting, after all Saints Row IV had a wild, ridiculous sci-fi setting.
As for Volition, it was revealed in July that the developer intends to grow its headcount to around 300, by adding 100 new employees. The development house was acquired by Koch Media as part of the THQ IP auction in January 2013. Koch Media paid $22.3 million for the studio, reportedly out-bidding Ubisoft.
The most recent title from the developer was Saints Row IV released in August 2013 on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
The studio was also responsible for THQ’s Red Faction games. However, following THQ auction, that franchise was acquired by Nordic Games.
