PS3 and Xbox 360 owners who purchase a digital copy of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be upgrade their copy of the PS4 and Xbox One for free, Activision has revealed.
The company has also detailed that any digital content will be passed on to the next-gen version, as well as the game's Season Pass and Atlas Gorge pre-order map, as well as multiplayer gear and stats.
To gain access to the upgrade, you simply have to purchase or redeem a digital PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 copy prior to March 31, 2015.
The PS3/PS4 version also features Cross-Buy, which means if you get it on PS4, you will also have the PS3 version available. At the time of writing, there's no indication that the same kind of offer is available for Xbox One and Xbox 360 version, however, you do retain both licenses if you purchase the game on Xbox 360 first.
Of course, you can only upgrade withing the same console family, so you can't purchase the PS3 version and expect to get the Xbox One version, for example.
This is a rather common promotion for cross-generation game releases, and it isn't a surprise to see Activision providing the same offer to CoD as they did to Destiny a few weeks prior.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be made available for release on November 4. If you're one who pre-orders games, you will gain access to the title one day early on November 3.
