Sony MDR1-A headphone review - Hi-Res bass

Testing

Something told me MDR1-A is intended to be used on the go, so I first tested it with several portable solutions: un-amped on a Samsung Galaxy Note 3; amped with a Fiio E12, and with the Fiio X1 DAP. Afterwards, I hooked the headphones to an ASUS Xonar Essence One on PC.

To compare the cans, I used the SoundMAGIC HP150, Sennheiser HD600, V-Moda XS, Sennheiser Amperior and the Audio Technica M50X.

As for my listening playlist you can look at it below:

Arctic Monkeys - Brianstorm
Arctic Monkeys - Do I wanna know

Cage the Elephant - Sail to the Sun
Coeur de pirate - Metal Gleamed in the Twilight
Cranberries - Zombie
Imagine Dragons - Radioactive

Diablo Swing Orchestra - Guerilla Laments
Dream Theater - Scarred
Dead can Dance - The Snake and the Moon
MS MR - Hurricane
Coeur de Pirate - Metal Gleamed in the Twilight
Cristopher Tin - Mado Kara Mieru
fun. - Carry On
Florence and the Machines - Drumming Song
Nirvana - Smells like Teen Spirit
Dido & Kendrick Lamar - Let us Move On
Metallica - One
Darren Korb - Paper Boats
Saltillo - Grafting
Massive Attack - Teardrop
Venetian Snares - Hajnal
In Flames - Lord Hypnos
Rammstein - Keine Lust
Dead can Dance - Into the Labyrinth
Excision & Datsik - Deviance
Queen - The show must go on
Catamenia - Dreams of Winterland

Lastly, while I describe my impressions in detail, and I am fairly certain my hearing is accurate enough, I do have to put a massive "SUBJECTIVE" disclaimer on the impressions.
