Saudi Telecom developed the new 4th generation LTE-A network, with better download speeds, making it the fastest commercial 4th generation networks in the Middle East.
Huawei has been confirmed as a partner of the project, supporting the seamless integration of multiple generations of STC mobile broadband technology.
Investments of Saudi Telecom in the 4th generation LTE-A network aims tostrengthen its leadership in the Saudi market, according to Dr. Khaled Albayari, Senior Deputy of STC Group for Technology & Operations.
"Moreover, launching the advanced 4th generation network will protect STC's investments in the existing network, and helps in providing a competitive mobile network for the company," said Albayari. "Saudi Arabia is considered as the largest telecom market in the Middle East. Therefore, launching the first quad systems network in the world (GSM/ UMTS/ LTE TDD/ LTE FDD), and upgrading the network to the advanced 4th generation LTE-A, enhances the Internet service in the Kingdom significantly, and offers a new experience for the STC's customers in the field of mobile wireless broadband services," he added.
