Ukrainian studio 4A Games working on multiple titles in the Metro universe as well as several other unannounced projects.
The Ukrainian company is set to expand its “triple-A development capabilities”, by opening a new studio in Malta. With the studio open, 4A Games revealed the game is also working on “unannounced projects,” powered by its proprietary 4A Engine.
The existing Kiev studio will continue to function as normal, though key-members, including the creative director and co-founder Andrew Prokhorov, as well as Chief Technical Officer Oles Shishkovstov, will relocate to Malta.
Dean Sharpe, who joined the 4A Games board as CEO and head of business development stated “by basing our new headquarters in Malta, a member state of the EU, 4A Games will be able to better compete on the international stage. Malta offers fantastic incentives for game development, and we are confident 4A Games will be able to attract the very best talent from Ukraine, Malta and beyond."
Prokhorov also added: "This marks the start of a new chapter for 4A Games. We are proud of our achievements as a young studio, and humbled by the response to our output so far. The team is looking forward to this new adventure."
Following a series of leaks, the publisher Deep Silver confirmed back in March that 4A Games is planning to release a re-mastered version of Metro: Last Light and Metro 2033 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
