Interceptor Entertainment and 3D Realms just revealed Bombshell, an isometric Action-RPG for PlayStation 4 and PC.
Danish developer Interceptor Games announced Bombshell, a game which puts the player in the shoes of Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison, a mercenary for hire set to “strong-arm her way across four planets in an Unreal Engine powered galactic adventure to save the US president from an apocalyptic alien threat.”
Bombshell is a brand-new IP, born from the recent Duke Nukem lawsuit, filed by Gearbox for trying to “illegally exploit Gearbox’s intellectual property rights in the Duke Nukem video-game franchise.” The tank-girl-esque Bombshell is said to have a large selection of weapons at her disposal in the single-handed war against the aliens who kidnapped the president.
The small trailer, is full of 90s cheese, and seems very similar to something I haven’t seen in a few years. There’s not much gameplay, not even that much animation on display, though we get a close look at the scantily clad Bombshell, with her bionic arm, and big motorcycle.
The game’s PC version will support mods, Interceptor writes on its site, stating. “We are big supporters of modding tools and we strive to release them for every game we make."
Interceptor Entertainment developed the Rise of the Triad reboot, and were recently working on a Duke Nukem game. With Gearbox Software’s lawsuit, the development was put on hold, and that’s how Bombshell was born.
"Lawsuits take time, and are often a long, drawn-out process. Meanwhile, we wanted to be productive--our creative team couldn't wait around for the issue to be resolved," Interceptor Entertainment stated. "Ultimately, we saw it as the opportunity to create our own intellectual property, and Bombshell was born. So far, it's been a blast."
"It's impossible to say what will happen in regards to our previous project. It might return, it might not. We want to make great games without sacrificing our integrity, and Bombshell allows us to do that beautifully," the studio added.
