I "tested" the Strix with compressed MP3/AAC files on mobile devices, and a decent amount of FLACs on PC. The chosen tracks should give me a proper impression of the headphones' overall audio performance, with songs containing a mix of lows, mids and highs, or excessively using one of the bunch. These subjective listening tests not only compare the product with other gaming headsets, but sometimes with audiophile-grade cans too.
I am describing the experience in detail, and while I am fairly certain my hearing is accurate enough, I do have to put a massive "SUBJECTIVE" disclaimer on the results. So, without further ado, here are the songs:
Music & Multimedia
Imagine Dragons - Radioactive
Diablo Swing Orchestra - Guerilla Laments
Dream Theater - Scarred
Saltillo - Gatekeepers
Saltillo - Grafting
Massive Attack - Teardrop
Venetian Snares - Hajnal
In Flames - Lord Hypnos
Rammstein - Keine Lust
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - Can't Hold us feat Ray Dalton
MS MR - Hurricane
Excision & Datsik - Deviance
Queen - The show must go on
Catamenia - Dreams of Winterland
Once I am done with this playlist (I know most of these songs by heart now), it's time to see how Strix performs with other forms of media, and here I've got the Hobbit - Desolation of Smaug ready.
Gaming performance is important, so I came up with a playlist of sorts, containing games with "Phuoai!" sounds, or plenty of dialogue and orchestral music.
Dark Souls II
Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm
Counter Strike: Global Offensive
The Wolf Among Us: Episode 4
