ASUS Designo MX27AQ monitor review - A sleek, subtle monitor

  • Published in Display reviews

The looks and performance of the MX27AQ might suggest this is a premium IPS panel monitor, but its price-point suggests otherwise. You can get the 27-inch monitor at about $499, and that's an absolute steal. Its true that in its price-range there are some 4K monitors, but they don't come close to Designo's color reproduction, contrast and viewing angles.

This is an excellent prosumer monitor. It looks absolutely stunning, with a very thin bezel and a relatively robust construction. The IPS panel alongside the WLED used would recommend the monitor to a beginner photographer or designer, someone who doesn't have the right money to pay for the Art Pro standard.

If you're not a designer on a budget, the monitor is still an excellent purchase. Color fidelity is excellent, the contrast-ratio is close to the advertised number, and the overall look of the thing is nothing short of impressive. Let's not forget the 2x25mm 3W speakers. They might not be the loudest on the market, but they at least sound good, and most integrated sound solutions modern-day monitors feature usually suck.

Overall, it's an excellent purchase for a 1440p monitor, and there are very few faults I have with it.
