Asus RX 470 Strix Gaming OC review – nice aspect and cooling

AMD Radeon RX 470 proved to be a very good GPU for gaming at 2K resolution. We’ve seen that in our review for MSI RX 470 Gaming X. Today it’s time for Asus RX 470 Strix OC to enter the room and start the quest.

There is a nice competition lately between Asus and MSI, but there are some new features that may count for the balance, one of them being the new Asus VGA cooler that replaces the DirectCU III version, while MSI kept its design. Let's see the numbers.

Asus RX 470 Strix runs higher than MSI Gaming X for GPU clock, but has a lower power capability, having a 6-pin interface, while MSI has an 8-pin one. That can suggest MSI uses the same PCB as for RX 480, while Asus doesn’t. I’ve seen this behavior at GTX 1080/1070 and I assume it’s the same for now.
