Taiwanese manufacturer of AMD graphic cards TUL Corporation today added to their selection of R9 series graphics cards for hardcore gamers with the PowerColor R9 290 OC. Based on the new “Hawaii” GPU, the R9 290 offers gamers latest DirectX 11.2 support, and top-of-the-line performance at 4K resolutions.
The PowerColor R9 290 OC is built on AMD “Hawaii” GPU, which utilizes AMD’s GCN architecture, 2560 stream processors and 4G GDDR5 memory. The core clock runs at at 975MHz, 30 MHz above the reference card, and the memory at 1200 MHz. Furthermore, sharing the same 512-bit memory interface with the R9 290X, the new card can tackle the most demanding games.
The AMD TrueAudio and Mantle technologies are an integral part of the R9 290 OC. AMD TrueAudio technology is the first discrete programmable audio pipeline embedded in the GPU, delivering an integrated in-game audio user experience on PCs. With Mantle support, game developers gain direct access to the GPU core, and ushering a brand new way of developing game graphics. To enable higher performance and power efficiency, the PowerColor R9 290 OC supports AMD PowerTune technology, performing intelligent assessment of the GPU’s real time power draw.
